GoldCare Provides High-tech Assessments for Long-term Care Clients
September 7, 2005
Case managers in long-term care programs at Fraser Health are trading in pen and paper for electronic "tablets" to record important client information.
The new technology enables changes in health status to be immediately recorded while clinicians talk to clients in the clients' homes. Uploaded to a secure electronic filing system, the instant information updates then will support timely decisions about treatment.
Campana Systems Inc.'s GoldCare software system makes it possible for the clinician, client and family to work together immediately to develop an action plan that considers both the physical and other care needs of clients.
Fraser Health is implementing such new tools and systems as part of a province-wide initiative to ensure consistency in the quality of care for Home and Community Care clients. "The electronic systems provide quality indicators and a consistent approach to service and care planning," says Betty Anne Busse, Fraser Health's chief operating officer responsible for Home and Community Care Services.
"This will enable us to implement high quality care planning based on the most current information, and allow us to deliver improved client and family support."
"GoldCare provides a single, electronic record containing client assessment needs, care planning and service delivery data for each person receiving care," adds Dion Bedard, project leader with Fraser Health. "Planning current and future services to meet client's needs is based on easily accessible, accurate information."
Campana Systems Inc. has worked with more than 200 organizations in Canada, United States, Australia and New Zealand to introduce computerized assessment tools.
Grant Roberts, Campana president, says: "We are delighted that Fraser Health has chosen Campana Systems Inc. as its strategic partner for this initiative. We look forward to working closely with Fraser Health to meet their long term information needs in the community sector."
